About the African Scholarship Development Enterprize
The ASDE promotes international scholarship by providing support services in manuscript development and research training. It enables African and Africanist scholars to develop and publish cutting edge research on a broad range of issues on people of African descent. The ASDE enhances the visibility of research by African and Africanist scholars by providing writing and other training services likely to result in publication and effective dissemination of research on people of an African heritage.
Many otherwise able young researcher professionals from the African continent and the African diaspora regions are unlikely to establish a successful research careers because they have not been mentored in the rules needed to publish successfully in respected peer reviewed journals. As a result, they are less likely to receive external funding for their research and to be invited by established researchers regionally and internationally to engage in cooperative research and publication activities, thus further restricting their scholarly development. Moreover, the social sciences need and would benefit from additional research from scholars in the developmentally emerging countries of Africa. The lack of quality articles from professionals in emerging countries restricts this research base. Research by African scholars based on the continent is sparsely represented on the shelves of libraries in Africa and internationally, a situation that is partly explained by the barrier that they have less training in competitive research writing, and dissemination. ASDE to provide research capacity building and leadership through mentorship, fair and swift peer-review of manuscripts for which authors seek development support.
